Police Log: Ongoing construction issues on Kearns, DUIs, and theft

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office recently responded to multiple DUI cases, including one where a driver was arrested after failing field sobriety tests and providing false information to law enforcement.
In another case, Park City police were called to a business on Snow Creek Drive after a man reportedly stole beer. The suspect was described as a tall white male in his 20s wearing a black hoodie and a white baseball cap.
Officers also handled several incidents tied to ongoing construction impacts, including a crash involving a construction vehicle on Kearns Boulevard and multiple traffic hazards caused by shifting lanes and blown-over cones near SR-224.
Monday, April 13
Incident: Wildlife problem
A caller reported a mother moose and calf separated by SR-224, raising concerns they may attempt to cross the roadway.
Incident: Non-injury accident
A construction truck backed into a parked vehicle near Kearns Boulevard and Bonanza Drive. No injuries were reported.
Tuesday, April 14
Incident: Disturbing the peace
A caller reported a man playing guitar loudly late at night at a residence on Woodside Avenue.
Incident: Property damage
A skid steer backed into a vehicle on Round Valley Drive. Both parties were on scene.
Incident: Suspicious
A suspicious black backpack was reported in a recreation parking lot near Trailside Elementary.
Incident: Theft
A male suspect reportedly stole beer from a location on Snow Creek Drive. He was described as a tall white male in his 20s wearing a black hoodie and white baseball cap.
Wednesday, April 15
Incident: Intoxication
Deputies responded to an assault report on Echo Frontage Road. While one party declined to press charges, the other was found to be intoxicated and was arrested.
Incident: Citizen assist
A caller reported a light blue bike locked to a barrier along the Rail Trail behind the Prospector area that had been there for an extended period.
Incident: Traffic hazard
A caller reported confusing temporary construction lanes near SR-224 and Meadows Drive, nearly resulting in a vehicle driving into debris.
Thursday, April 16
Incident: Traffic hazard
Blown-over traffic cones near a trench on SR-224 and Meadows Drive created a hazard for drivers and wildlife.
Incident: Citizen assist
A caller reported a near-miss involving a vehicle while walking their dog on Holiday Ranch Loop Road.
Friday, April 17
Incident: Citizen assist
A caller reported a neighbor’s fallen tree damaged their fence and requested guidance.
Incident: Fraud
A caller reported receiving a scam call from someone claiming to be law enforcement regarding missed jury duty.
Saturday, April 18
Incident: Disturbing the peace
A caller reported prolonged loud music coming from the Main Street area, audible from Park Avenue residences.
Incident: DUI
A driver was arrested on SR-40 after performing poorly on field sobriety tests and later found to have provided false information to law enforcement.
Incident: Warrant of arrest
Deputies responded to a hotel on Landmark Drive where a woman refused to leave after checkout. She was found to have active felony warrants and was arrested.
Sunday, April 19
Incident: DUI
A driver was stopped on US-40 after committing multiple lane violations. Signs of impairment were observed, and the driver was arrested.
