Police Log: Man leads deputies on chase at Kamas rodeo grounds; Elk, duck reported near roadways

An unusual call in Kamas led to sheriff deputies taking a naked man into custody after a short foot pursuit and reported break-in at the rodeo grounds. Officers also handled a DUI arrest, hit-and-run on Main Street, and a range of disturbances, vagrancy, and suspicious activity throughout the week.
Monday, March 23
Incident: Suspicious circumstances / disorderly conduct
Deputies responded to the Kamas Rodeo Grounds after reports of a suspicious man. The individual was found naked, claiming people were after him, and ran from deputies before being taken into custody. He was transported to the hospital and is suspected of breaking into and damaging the rodeo announcer stand.

A hotel on Park Avenue reported a suspicious caller claiming to be from the fire department requesting to conduct an inspection.
Incident: Graffiti
Graffiti was reported within a condo community on Crescent Road.
Incident: Vagrancy
A man was reported staying in a stairwell near Bonanza Drive for several days.
Incident: Disorderly conduct
An intoxicated man was reported at Heber Avenue and Park Avenue.
Tuesday, March 24
Incident: Citizen assist
A resident on Silver Cloud Drive reported concern about potential scam calls from someone claiming to be a detective.
Incident: Parking problem
A resident on Little Kate Road reported ongoing issues with construction vehicles blocking their driveway.
Wednesday, March 25
Incident: Business assist
A sled filled with personal belongings was reported outside a storefront on Bonanza Drive, possibly belonging to a homeless individual.
Incident: Animal problem
A dog was reported locked inside a pickup truck on Park Avenue for an extended period.
Thursday, March 26
Incident: Citizen assist
Officers checked on a vehicle with lights on and music playing near Sullivan Road; the driver stated they were just finishing the song. No issues were found.
Incident: Traffic stop
A driver on Marsac Avenue was warned after passing an officer with emergency lights activated.
Incident: DUI
A driver was arrested for DUI near Redstone Center Drive following a traffic stop for violations and signs of impairment.
Friday, March 27
Incident: Business assist
Employees reported customers refusing to leave a business and becoming aggressive.
Incident: Business assist
An individual was asked to leave by a Main Street employee and to not eat their food in the store. The individual was told to clean up his mess and pay for the items.
Incident: Citizen assist
A caller near Kearns Boulevard reported significant illegal dumping in a nearby parking lot.
Incident: Disturbing the peace
A noise complaint was reported on Rothwell Road involving loud music.
Saturday, March 28
Incident: Business assist
An individual was reported tapping a walking stick on windows at Starbucks, making employees uncomfortable.
Incident: Wildlife problem
A duck was reported “nestled down and relaxing in the road” on Bonanza Drive.
Incident: Wildlife problem
A herd of elk was reported near SR-224, approaching the roadway as darkness approached. The caller stated the duck was “laying on the line.”
Sunday, March 29
Incident: Disturbing the peace
A loud party with music and yelling was reported on Sunnyside Drive.
Incident: Hit and run
A parked vehicle on Main Street was damaged in a hit-and-run. A witness left a note identifying a possible suspect vehicle.
Incident: Fire / explosion
A butane-related explosion caused a shed fire at a residence, leaving a man with severe burns. He was airlifted to the University of Utah Hospital.
Incident: DUI
A driver was arrested for DUI near SR-224 and Old Ranch Road following a traffic stop and signs of impairment.
