Park City expands public art initiative, invites artists to submit designs for 21 bus shelters

PARK CITY, Utah — After unveiling a series of eight colorful, artist-designed bus shelters last year, Park City Municipal is moving forward with the next chapter of its public transit art initiative.

The City has issued a Request for Proposals for the second phase of their “Timeless Connections” bus shelter art initiative, inviting artists and artist teams to design and install original artwork on up to 21 bus shelters throughout Park City, though the final number of shelters may shift based on guidance from the City’s Engineering and Transportation teams. Proposals are due on Friday, May 1.

Centered on the “Timeless Connections theme,” the city encourages artists to explore the relationships, histories and transformations that have shaped the community over time. Artwork will be applied exclusively to the wooden panels or wooden components of each structure; all other structural elements are excluded.

In this second phase, artwork may be installed on shelters located in neighborhoods including Old Town, Prospector, Park Meadows, Bonanza Park, Resort Center, and Upper Deer Valley.

A pre-proposal meeting will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at City Hall, with a virtual Zoom option available. City officials strongly encourage interested artists to attend.

The Park City Public Art Advisory Board and City staff will review proposals and interview top applicants, with a final selection anticipated by June 5. City Council approval is expected later that month. The City notes that priority will be given to local artists from Park City. The approved designs will be installed by Nov. 30.

Artists interested in applying can find full submission requirements and project details on the City’s website.
