Proposed Utah Bill would rename Alpine Loop Scenic Byway after Robert Redford

UTAH — A newly proposed Utah House Bill would rename the road through American Fork Canyon in honor of the late Robert Redford.

Sponsored by Rep. David Shallenberger, the bill designates SR-92 through American Fork Canyon as Robert Redford Highway.

Currently, SR-92 is named Timpanogos Highway west of the canyon and Alpine Loop Scenic Byway through the canyon. If passed, Robert Redford Highway would stretch from Ashton Boulevard in Lehi, east through American Fork Canyon to Route 189 in Provo Canyon.

New signage would be installed to officially designate that stretch of highway and the change would take effect May 6, 2026.
