Hyatt to open first mountain Andaz hotel in Heber Valley amid major resort growth

HEBER VALLEY, Utah — Hyatt Hotels Corp. announced Thursday it will open an Andaz-branded resort in Heber Valley, marking the lifestyle brand’s first mountain destination and further expanding Utah’s luxury hospitality offerings tied to major ski resort development.

Andaz Heber Valley is planned as part of The Slope, a mixed-use community along the Provo River near the intersection of SR 189 and River Rd. that promises access to skiing, hiking and outdoor recreation year-round. The hotel will include 85 guest rooms, along with 62 condominium residences and 140 villas, and is expected to open in January 2029.

The announcement comes as Deer Valley Resort continues to transform its East Village base area into a major luxury alpine destination. That development already includes the newly opened Grand Hyatt Deer Valley, a four-star property catering to skiers and visitors near its expansion portal. A Four Seasons Resort and Residences Deer Valley, backed by a record $600 million construction loan, is under construction and expected to debut by 2028. Developers say it will offer expansive amenities, ski-in/ski-out access and high-end residential units as part of the broader East Village footprint.

Additionally, a Canopy by Hilton hotel is planned to open in summer 2026 as the first Hilton property in Utah, bringing 180 rooms, ski access and wellness facilities to the East Village.

A planned Waldorf Astoria Deer Valley Resort and Residences — part of the same East Village expansion — would further expand high-end lodging in the area with 132 hotel rooms and more than 100 private residences near newly developed terrain.

“Deer Valley East Village is the culmination of world-class luxury partners committed to delivering exceptional ski experiences,” said Extell Development Company founder Gary Barnett in announcing the Waldorf Astoria project.

Hyatt executives said Andaz Heber Valley is designed as a four-season destination rooted in local character and global inspiration, emphasizing wellness, design and materials that reflect the surrounding environment. The property will be located about five minutes from Deer Valley’s East Village and roughly 45 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport.

Andaz Heber Valley will feature mountain-to-table dining, wellness amenities and direct access to outdoor activities, developers said. Residential units, to be marketed separately, will carry separate privileges tied to hotel services.

The Slope development will be delivered in phases, with residences launching in spring 2026 and completions extending through 2029. The announcement comes amid the region’s rapid buildout ahead of increased demand tied to tourism and the 2034 Winter Olympics.
