Deer Valley Resort hosts helicopter fly-in of new Hail Peak Express lift towers

PARK CITY, Utah — Deer Valley Resort is placing lift towers for its new Hail Peak Express lift by helicopter, marking the latest milestone in the resort’s Expanded Excellence initiative.

Spectators can gather in the main parking lot of Deer Valley East Village on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 7 a.m. to watch the lift towers being placed by helicopter. The installation is part of Deer Valley’s broader Expanded Excellence initiative, an ongoing effort to grow the resort’s terrain and infrastructure.

The lift, new for the 2026-27 winter season, will carry skiers from Deer Valley East Village to the resort’s newest terrain on Hail Peak. Hail Peak Express will open access to 200 new skiable acres and seven new runs on the easternmost edge of the resort, according to the resort.

The lift will operate with 86 chairs and a capacity of 2,400 people per hour. It will feature 8,099 feet of haul rope, an inclined length of 3,975 feet and a vertical rise of 1,130 feet.
