Police Log: Shots fired at Buckeye Lake, $3,000 theft at Junction Commons

Monday, August 4

Incident: DUI, Possession of Controlled Substances, and Possession of Burglary Tools
Deputies responded to a vehicle that had been reported attempting to locate. The vehicle was seen getting onto eastbound I-80 at mile marker 145 and ran out of gas near mile marker 141. The driver performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. A search of the truck revealed methamphetamine and a shaved key in the ignition. The driver was booked into the Summit County Jail.

Incident: Shots Fired
Deputies responded to Buckeye Lake in the Uinta Mountains on a report of shots fired. They determined that one person had fired multiple shots into the air during an argument with another person over off-leash dogs. No people or animals were injured. The case was forwarded to the County Attorney for screening.

Incident: Traffic Violation
Deputies stopped an unregistered Surron electric bike traveling eastbound on Sidewinder Drive.

Tuesday, August 5

Incident: Wildlife Problem
A caller reported a baby deer on the side of SR-224 near the Huntsman open space, with its mother on the Richardson open space on the opposite side of the road.

Wednesday, August 6

Incident: Drug Possession
Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the Home Depot parking lot. They contacted four people and found methamphetamine and other drugs. All four were arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail. The vehicle was impounded.

Incident: Utility Problem
A caller reported a large amount of water flooding the area near the Old Miner Express Car Wash on Bonanza Drive.

Thursday, August 7

Incident: Citizen Dispute
A caller reported a dispute at the pickleball courts on Ledger Way. She said some players became aggressive when she tried to rotate into a game and would not answer her questions about how long they had been playing.

Incident: Speeding
Deputies stopped a driver for traveling 26 mph over the speed limit in a 45 mph zone on Meadows Drive near SR-224.

Incident: Livestock Problem
A caller reported a cow with orange ear tags on the bike path near McPolin Barn. The cow was not in the roadway and appeared to have jumped a fence.

Friday, August 8

Incident: Theft
Two male suspects entered the Coach store at Junction Commons. One spoke briefly to an employee before leaving, while the other browsed and then took several items worth about $3,000 before running from the store. The suspect got into a teal Toyota Prius, which was tracked on license plate readers traveling through Salt Lake City, West Valley City, and Magna. Surveillance video and photos were collected as evidence.

Saturday, August 9

Incident: Search and Rescue
Search and Rescue and Mounted Patrol units responded to Big Elk Lake to assist a woman with a broken wrist.

Incident: Intoxication
County deputies responded to the Pendry Hotel for a report of an intoxicated woman who had fallen. Medical personnel evaluated and released her on scene. Deputies followed her and a companion home, but upon arrival she became belligerent toward her mother, refused instructions, and showed signs of intoxication. She was arrested for intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Incident: Domestic Violence
Deputies responded to a report of domestic violence on Brookwood Drive. A man told deputies he had been assaulted by his fiancée. After investigating, deputies determined who the primary aggressor was and arrested that person.

Incident: Traffic Violation
Park City deputies warned an electric bike rider for running a red light on Payday Drive at Park Avenue.

Sunday, August 10

Incident: Suspicious Circumstances
A woman and her daughter reported to the Park City Golf Course pro shop that someone had been filming and taking pictures of them while they were on the green.
