PARK CITY, Utah — Running with Ed will be held on Saturday, May 17. In its 16th year, Running With Ed (RWE) is a celebratory relay race fundraiser for the Park City Education Foundation (PCEF), which raises money for Park City teachers, students, and schools.
It’s been voted one of Park City’s Best Fundraisers for 12 years running.
The race traverses spectacular Park City and gets you home in time for a playdate or a date night. The course offers everything from trail to pavement, challenging climbs to fast downhills, easy legs for beginners, and tough ones for experts. Winding past Olympic venues, iconic landmarks, and neighborhood schools.
“New this year,” PCEF Vice President of Advancement Jennifer Billow told TownLift, “fundraise $500, and $100 of your registration fee will be refunded to you!”
As always, RWE is a Park City Education Foundation fundraising event. While fundraising is not required, they automatically create a Fundraising Page for you when you register to continue your support of teachers, schools and administrators.
Top individual Fundraisers are eligible for unique Park City gifts, tickets, and swag, all donated by our incredible RWE sponsors.
“We love seeing our entire community come together for Running with Ed. It’s so much fun, and it’s awesome to see kids running next to parents running next to teachers running next to Olympians.” Billow continued. “A lot of people ask us, who’s Ed? Running with Ed is short for Running with Education. It’s a celebration of education masquerading as a race. Anyone can do RWE, too – there are short legs, and there are legs you can walk on.”

RWE is an essential fundraiser for PCEF. All the proceeds fund its Classroom Grants, the longest-running program that has provided literally thousands of grants for educators since its founding in 1986. These grants enrich the teachers’ classrooms and enliven student learning.
Theme costumes are encouraged for yourself or your team, but not required, “you may feel left out without one. This is not the NYC Marathon.” Reads the RWE FAQs.
I've lived in Park City for 30 years but right off the starting line, my journalism professors expressed plaudits after class for writing more so about the small-town sports in the surrounding mountains than the urban updates they assigned. Therefore, I’m on par punning and penning Parkites' pastimes. Turning high and early through my career, I’ve worked communications for The Olympics, the Paralympics and the Special Olympics. Additionally, there's been National Geographic, Patagonia, NCAA, USA Nordic and the United States Library of Congress, so I guess you could say this ain't my first rodeo.
