Skier airlifted after tree collision at Park City Mountain

PARK CITY, Utah — A 37-year-old male skier from Arizona was seriously injured Saturday at Park City Mountain resort, officials said.

Park City Mountain Ski Patrol responded to the incident on an advanced trail off Tombstone Express, which reportedly involved a collision between a skier and a tree. The Park City Fire Department was on standby but had no direct contact with the patient.

According to Battalion Chief Darren Nelson, the fire department’s role was limited to standing by in case the air ambulance couldn’t land on the mountain. The injured skier was airlifted directly from the mountain by helicopter to the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City.

“Our entire Park City Mountain team extends our heartfelt sympathies to our guest’s family and friends,” said Deirdra Walsh, vice president and chief operating officer of Park City Mountain.

There have been no updates on the skier’s current condition.
