Colton Sheffert got the boys on the board early on. The Senior has signed to play soccer in the Fall at Occidental College in California.

Max Schneider scored a goal, and Tory Hoffman, fresh off competing at Cross Country Skiing Jr. Nationals, kicked one in, however it was called back citing off-sides.

Senior, keeper, Root Roepke tended goal to a clean sheet for more than the first half of the match and Freshman Logan Cadman continued that record put in for the final 20 minutes. Cadman recently skied in the Nordic Combined Jr. Nationals. Now-junior Quinn Kelly who was also playing varsity Miners soccer back when he, himself was a freshman buried the ball for a goal as well.

Janssen’s sister, Kennedy, who graduated from PCHS two years ago and is attending the University of Utah is working as the P.A.  announcer at Dozier Field for soccer, and Jennifer, his mom is the team photographer. Nicolas told TownLift, “I started with a pretty long list of colleges and after a ton of research, I realized that Redlands has everything I wanted and was looking for, I’m excited for the opportunity to play there.”

“The letter of acceptance onto their soccer team came right around Christmas time so it was a nice moment for the whole family since we were all together then.” Nicolas discussed the next couple months closing out his high school soccer career. “I’m looking forward to playing with this great team as the year goes on and hopefully we can make a run for State, and maybe even then capture a title.” Nicolas will be majoring in Business, not surprising since he shines off the field as much as on.

This Miner’s squad is finally finding their stride after a slow start posting in the “L” column their two preseason games and one regular season home game, then winning one on the road, last week’s away match was cancelled due to inclement weather.

Coach Anthony Dicicco told Townlift on March 8 at their most prior home game, “I shared with the boys that in my seven years with the Miners, this was the most competitive tryouts portion of the year that we’ve ever had. Now that the team has been chosen, it’s a case of this team writing their story.”

“This group has to settle on what their shared vision for what they want their season to be is, and and what their willing to do to achieve those goals. I think they have every opportunity to do that, with many positives in their actions to build on going forward.”

Most of these athletes have and continue to play on some level, and often officiate with the Park City Soccer Club.

Their next match is against Salt Lake Valley’s Soccer Academy LCA on Friday, at home at Dozier Field. Kick off is at 7:00 p.m.
