Park City High School senior records newest song in Sweden at ABBA studio

STOCKHOLM, Sweden — Singer-songwriter Jadyn Ackerman, a senior at Park City High School, is making waves locally and abroad with the release of her latest single, “Broken Glass,” on Oct. 19.

This is her third single, the first of which was released a year ago, and the second expected to be released a a future date.

While growing up in Texas, Ackerman honed her skills at the Sarah Kelly Music School, where she attended a music camp that opened the door for her to perform and work in Nashville.

“Her second song was recorded at the Sienna Studio in Nashville where she was also able to tour Capitol Records among other world-famous studios,” Ackerman’s mom, Maureen told TownLift, “She had a ball simply being in her element in that live studio.” Her guitarist was from the Chicks, formerly known as the Dixie Chicks, and the drummer was from the Zac Brown Band.

“She had a great experience in Nashville, met a lot of people there who would open doors in the music industry. Although Jadyn is 18 now, but not even in any of the music colleges she’s applying to yet, she was already offered internships in Nashville,” Maureen said.

Music mentors from Texas invited Jadyn to travel to Sweden, which is where she’s been honing her craft of songwriting. One of her biggest influences is Taylor Swift. Her mom and dad went along, the family having never been there.

The Cutting Room in Stockholm is where she recorded with Bjorn Engelmann, the same-award winning studio staff member who mastered ABBA’s globally chart-topping Voyage album.

Maureen said, “Singing in Sweden was a wonderful opportunity for Jadyn, meeting Bjorn was pretty cool. I was thinking, ‘Wow, how did we even get here?’ Then I answered my own question, ‘Oh, Jadyn following her passion and us following her got us here.'”

Jadyn is the President of the Hope Squad at Park City High School, an extracurricular group which works in concert with the Live Like Sam’s Thrive nonprofit whose message is to bring awareness to the prevention of bullying and suicide. “Her music has given her direction and confidence to do all sorts of things like this,” Maureen said.
