Park City schools granted nearly $1.5M in rebates toward electric school buses

Federal agency, state officials celebrate green transportation at Jeremy Ranch Elementary School

PARK CITY, Utah — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) visited Jeremy Ranch Elementary School on Sept. 10 to celebrate Park City School District’s new electric school bus award. The event, part of the Biden Administration’s Investing in America agenda, showcased the benefits of electric buses for students, educators, and residents.

On May 29, the EPA announced $1.49 million in rebates for Utah school districts to purchase electric buses. PCSD is one of three recipients, receiving funding for two buses. Granite District and Uintah District, each awarded two electric buses, are also recipients.

The event featured Mike Tanner, COO for Park City School District; Kim Shelley, Executive Director of the Utah Department of Environmental Quality; and Kelly Watkins, Chief of Staff for EPA Region 8, who discussed the positive impact of clean energy on local communities.
