Park City Photography Club wins impressive 25 awards at Utah State Fair
PARK CITY, Utah — Park City has a fair number of professional and amateur photographers. This year, the Park City Photography Club proved just how good they are. You can still see the photographs in person through Sept. 15 upstairs at the Grand Building at the Utah State Fair.
10 First Place Awards go to Park City Photographers
The First Place winners from the Park City Photography Club are Alexx Koskella with “Catch of Day,” Amy Eskind with “Snow Monkey Embrace,” David Breslauer with “Bobby Sox Trees,” “Trees in the Morning Mist,” and “W I D E,” David Winegar with “The En-Counter,” Howard Meltzer with “Get Off Of My Lawn” and “Primal Waters,” Liz Dranow with “Utah’s Beauty” and Tracy Frankel with “Ice and Ash.”
Once the judging committee has chosen the first-place winners for all divisions, it selects the top awards from among those photographs.
Best of Show goes to David Breslauer
David Breslauer took home the Best in Show award. He just decided to start selling his photography this year. Most recently, he displayed his photographs at the MINERS 9 art exhibit. He won the Best in Show award with a photograph titled “Bobby Sox Trees.”
PCPC also wins the Utah Division of Arts & Museums choice for their traveling exhibition
Howard Meltzer was awarded the Utah Division of Arts & Museums choice for their traveling exhibition with “Get Off Of My Lawn”. This exhibition will travel around the state of Utah for the next year. “Get Off Of My Lawn” won first place in the humor category. This is the second year Howard Meltzer has entered the Utah State Fair photography competition. He has learned that “Everyone looks at things differently. This year, there is a youth category for cell phone photography. All the perspectives are different because an eight-year-old is so much shorter than an adult.” When they discuss photography at the club, he finds “when it comes down to it, art is art. When you show it to others, they will say ‘This is phenomenal!’. Then another will say, “No, this one is phenomenal.”
