Dog shot in Midway prompts criminal investigation by Wasatch County Sheriff’s office
MIDWAY, Utah – Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a dog being shot and killed at a home in Midway. The incident took place around 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 10.
Deputies from the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the residence following reports of the dog being shot and killed. Upon investigation, it was preliminarily determined that probable cause exists to believe the individual involved unlawfully discharged a firearm within city limits and committed aggravated cruelty to an animal.
Wasatch Count Sheriff’s office has recommended charges based on the findings of the investigation and has referred the case to the Wasatch County Attorney’s Office for criminal charges to be brought.
Sheriff Rigby stated, “This incident is being taken very seriously. The safety of our community, including its animals, is the top priority for our office. We are thoroughly investigating this incident to ensure all appropriate actions are taken.”
