Olympic ski jumper and Utah resident Anna Hoffmann announces her retirement from the sport
PARK CITY, Utah — Anna Hoffman, 24, officially announced her retirement on June 24 from the sport of ski jumping. Her illustrious career was punctuated as the sole representative of the United States in the women’s Normal Hill Individual Ski Jumping in the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games.
Although it may seem like a somewhat truncated professional athletic career, Hoffmann started ski jumping back home in Madison, Wis., with the Blackhawk Club at the age of two.
Hoffmann wrote on Facebook, “This has been the hardest decision of my life, but it’s time for me to hang up my suit and to achieve other life dreams and goals. Cheers to all the people that helped me along the way and to all the lifelong friends I have met on my journey. Thank you!”
After the Games in Beijing, at which she placed 37th, she, along with the rest of Team USA, got to visit with President Biden at the White House.
Parkites among the hundreds who recently spectated July 21’s Springer Tournee got the opportunity to watch her very last jump.
Next moves for Hoffmann include, but are certainly not limited to, continuing her studies at the University of Utah.
