Utah presidential debate canceled by commission: ‘We are sorry to come to this decision’
The Commission on Presidential Debates announced earlier this week that it has canceled the 2024 debates originally scheduled for September and October at four university sites, including the University of Utah. President Joe Biden and Donald Trump will now participate in only two debates during the 2024 Presidential Election, one on CNN in Atlanta on June 27, and another at ABC News studios on September 10.
Leitner-Poma opens largest US ski lift manufacturing hub in Utah
Leitner-Poma of America opened a new Skytrac manufacturing facility in Tooele on June 21. The $27 million, 130,000-square-foot facility will produce fixed-grip ski lifts and create up to 120 jobs. It will collaborate with Tooele Technical College and Veteran and Military Employment Services for job training. Located in the Tooele Business Park, the plant will use wind and solar energy for sustainability.
Utah’s reservoirs are 93% full on average, excluding Lake Powell and Flaming Gorge. Recent high temperatures have even caused some reservoirs, like Stateline at 117% capacity, to overflow. About 80% of reservoirs are 90-100% full, and several exceed 100% due to a solid snowpack earlier this year.
