SNAPPED: Mirror Lake Highway clear up to Gold Hill turnoff, snow patches remain
SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Mirror Lake Highway is clear up to the Gold Hill turnoff as of May 13, according to a conditions update from the Evanston Ranger District.
According to a ranger with the Heber-Kamas Ranger District, the road is still currently under a “soft closure,” and those who choose to drive it do so at their own risk.
Some snow patches remain in the area, but according to the update, drivers can push past them to about mile marker 45 southbound.
Stillwater Campground still has some big patches of snow, and the area outside of the campground is also flooded near the highway. East Fork Bear Campground has a few small snow piles, but looks to be easily accessible. Whitney Reservoir is still inaccessible.
UDOT representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment on when the road may officially reopen for the season.
