Park City Fire District’s wood chipping service begins May 6
PARK CITY, Utah — Gather all those dead branches and trees from last winter and register for Park City Fire District’s (PCFD) free wood chipping program.
This year wood chipping will begin in Jeremy Ranch on May 6. The Fire Department rotates through the neighborhoods on an ongoing basis until Sept. 26, if the weather conditions allow it.
No guaranteed pickup dates
The PCFD has one chipping machine. They run it Monday through Thursday. You must register your pile to have them chip it. For their rotation through the Park City area, they have divided the area into 14 sections. Starting with Jeremy Ranch, they head south along the western sections and then from Deer Valley back north along the eastern sections. When your pile gets chipped, depends on where they are when you register your pile. If you need your pile to be chipped on a specific date, please hire a private contractor.
Chipping requirements
- The maximum size of pile that will be chipped is eight feet long by six feet tall by eight feet wide. If you have more wood, you can create multiple piles. Only one of these piles will be processed per lap around the Park City area.
- The log butts must be facing out and in the same direction.
- The pile must be less than five feet from the curb of a city or county street, not blocked by gates or fences, and not on a shared driveway.
- No building material is allowed.
- Wire of any kind is not allowed.
- Garbage, dirt or debris of any kind is not allowed.
