Bomb threat locks down South Summit High School

KAMAS, Utah — A man from Layton, Utah, was arrested this morning after the Summit County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a bomb threat at South Summit High School in Kamas. The Layton man was reported as having very erratic behavior and was armed.

The school, which is currently on its spring break, was immediately put into lockdown, and staff members were evacuated.

Deputies were able to make contact with the man, safely take him into custody, and transport him to the hospital.

Summit County Sheriff’s PIO Felicia Sotelo said, “Everyone is safe, there were no injuries, and he [the suspect] is getting the help that he needs.”

As of now, Sotelo cannot confirm or deny if there was a bomb on school property or not, but that “law enforcement will continue their investigation.”
