Fire temporarily closes Nordic Valley Ski Resort

'Due to buried hydrants, heavy wind, smoke, and freezing temperatures, battling the fire was challenging and demanding, causing it to burn through a wall and up through the roof,'

EDEN, Utah — Nordic Valley Ski Resort is temporarily closed after an early morning fire.

According to a statement from the resort, the fire was detected in Nordic Valley’s barn this morning by an employee.

Multiple agencies were dispatched to the scene and the fire was extinguished, however, crews faced additional challenges due to the weather conditions.

“Due to buried hydrants, heavy wind, smoke, and freezing temperatures, battling the fire was challenging and demanding, causing it to burn through a wall and up through the roof,” said a statement from the Weber Fire District.

Nordic Valley’s ticket office, restaurant and business offices were damaged in the blaze.

“Due to these unforeseen circumstances Nordic Valley will be closed until we can get equipment to print & validate tickets,” said a statement from Nordic Valley Ski Resort. “The entire team will be working tirelessly to get the resort running again to welcome guests back to the mountain.”

The Weber Fire District and Ogden City Fire are currently investigating the cause of this incident.

Guests who purchased tickets for dates during the closure will be issued a credit.
