Two callouts for Wasatch County SAR during first big winter storm

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — Wasatch County Search and Rescue completed two rescues on Saturday during the first big winter storm of the season.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. Wasatch 911 dispatch received a call that a 40-year-old man had become injured near Strawberry Ridge in a snowmobiling accident.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, and the man was transported to Daniels Summit for where he was then taken to a medical facility by ambulance. The rescue took over two hours to complete.

The second rescue took place at approximately 5:21 p.m. when a family with young children became stranded in their SUV in the snow near Log Hollow.

Wasatch County SAR was dispatched to the scene, and the family was ultimately rescued by a U.S. Forest Service Ranger who transported them off of the mountain. The rescue took an hour to complete.
