Wasatch County SAR rescues snowmobilers stranded in steep terrain

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — A pair of stranded snowmobilers were rescued by Wasatch County Search and Rescue on Saturday, Feb. 10.

According to a statement from the Wasatch County SAR, the two men became stranded in the Snake Creek/Ant Knolls area of Wasatch County at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The pair used a Garmin Inreach device to alert first responders to their location. The Wasatch County SAR Mountain Rescue team found the two men stuck in very steep terrain with no way out.

The deep snow in the area complicated the rescue, which took five hours to complete.

“Kudos to the stranded party for being prepared with a Garmin Inreach, radios and the ability to start a fire,” said a statement from Wasatch County SAR.
