Police Log: multiple DUIs, drug offenses

Tuesday, August 1

Alcohol Offense

Deputies initiated a traffic stop on River Road and SR-32 for faulty equipment. Upon contact with the 18-year-old driver, the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitted from his person. The driver admitted to consuming alcohol earlier. A registration check of the vehicle also indicated the registration was suspended. The driver was issued a citation for underage consumption and for the suspended registration.

Friday, August 4

Warrant of Arrest

Deputies conducted a traffic stop near the Holiday Inn on West Ute Boulevard. Upon contact with the driver, it was discovered that the owner of the vehicle had multiple felony warrants out for his arrest in Summit County. After confirming the identity of the driver, he was taken into custody and booked into Summit County Jail.

Wednesday, August 9

Property Damage

Deputies were dispatched to a home on Woodenshoe Lane that had reported property damage. The victim said his head gate was hit sometime last night and it was destroyed. The victim found a side mirror to a GM type vehicle left at the scene. Deputies searched the area for a damaged GM type vehicle throughout the shift without success. This case is considered closed due to lack of leads or evidence.

Thursday, August 10

DUI and Open Container

Dispatch received several complaints of a vehicle failing to maintain a lane of travel and driving poorly. Deputies responded on I-80 and located the suspicious vehicle and observed a poor driving pattern. After contact was made with the driver it was found he was impaired, and he was subsequently arrested for DUI and open container offenses.

Friday, August 11

Possession of Methamphetamine

A suspicious vehicle was contacted in the parking lot of Jeremy Store. Upon contact with the driver, deputies discovered that he had numerous warrants for his arrest.  A search of his vehicle revealed 3.3 grams of methamphetamine and a counterfeit $50 bill that was located in his wallet.  The suspect was booked and his vehicle was towed.  His 9-year-old son who was on scene was released to family members.

Saturday, August 12

DUI

A traffic stop was conducted on Main Street in Kamas for a speeding violation. Upon contact with the driver, signs of impairment were observed, and there was an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the cabin of the vehicle.  The driver agreed to participate in standardized field sobriety tests which he performed poorly on. He was subsequently taken into custody for DUI and transported to the Summit County Jail without incident.  The involved vehicle was state tax impounded by Park City Towing.

Sunday, August 13

Possession of Marijuana

Deputies conducted a traffic stop for no insurance and expired vehicle registration on West Ute Boulevard. During the traffic stop the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was found to have an active warrant out of county for narcotics possession. While speaking with the driver he admitted to having narcotics on his person. He was subsequently arrested for the warrant and possession of marijuana. He was transported and booked into Summit County Jail without issue. Vehicle was state tax impounded by Park City Towing.
