Motorcyclist killed in crash near Deer Creek State Park

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — A motorcyclist was killed in an accident near Deer Creek State Park on Saturday.

According to a statement from the Utah Department of Public Safety, a motorcycle was traveling southbound on State Road 189 at approximately 6:30 p.m. on July 29, approaching the curve near Wallsburg.

At the same time, a white Prius stopped at the stop sign on Main Canyon Road then began to travel directly across State Road 189 to a Deer Creek State Park day use area.

The Prius made it to the far right lane of the southbound lanes where it was then struck by the motorcyclist traveling southbound.

The motorcycle impacted the right rear corner of the Prius, and the motorcyclist died at the scene. The two occupants of the Prius were uninjured.

Impairment is not suspected in the incident, but authorities are investigating whether or not speed played a role in the crash. Information regarding the motorcyclist’s identity was not available at the time of this article.
