Nighttime paving on US-189 to bring alternating traffic next week near Deer Creek

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — Drivers traveling on US-189 near Deer Creek Reservoir should prepare for overnight traffic impacts next week as paving work continues on the highway widening project.

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) announced that one-way alternating traffic will be in place between the Island Beach Day Use Area and just past State Route 113 during overnight paving operations.

Alternating traffic is scheduled for:

Monday, July 27, from 8:30 p.m. to Tuesday, July 28, at 6:30 a.m.
Tuesday, July 28, from 8:30 p.m. to Wednesday, July 29, at 6:30 a.m.

Following those closures, crews will continue paving behind concrete barriers from Wednesday, July 29, through Tuesday, Aug. 4, working nightly between 8:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. UDOT said no additional lane closures are anticipated during that phase of the work.

No overnight work or lane closures are scheduled for the Pioneer Day holiday weekend on Friday, July 24, or on Saturday, Aug. 1.

The paving is part of UDOT’s ongoing US-189 widening project, which is designed to improve safety and traffic flow through the Heber Valley corridor.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time during overnight hours and watch for changing traffic patterns in the construction zone.
