Utah named fifth in the US for outdoor exercise
PARK CITY, Utah— Utah has been ranked fifth in the nation for outdoor exercise.
Online fitness resource Total Shape analyzed multiple factors, including hiking trails, golf courses, boats, and water sports facilities, and ranked each state by size to find the top 10.
Utah takes the fifth spot with a score of 66.76, owing to its impressive percentage of adults with access to a park within half a mile, standing at a whopping 74.9%. This makes it the perfect spot for running or outdoor workouts, plus the ideal place to enjoy peaceful walks and laid-back picnics.
Hawaii took the number one spot with a final score of 84.17.
“Exercise is crucial for our health; not only is it beneficial physically by managing weight and reducing the risk of illnesses like heart disease, but it can also improve mental health by releasing feel-good hormones,” said a spokesperson from Total Shape. “Whilst indoor exercise can become repetitive, using similar machines or the same routine, thus decreasing motivation to stay active – outdoor exercise can tackle this.”
