Police Log: multiple DUIs, drug offenses, thefts

Friday, June 16

Drug Offense

Deputies initiated a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle on Highland Drive. The smell of smoked marijuana emanating from the car’s interior was detectable when the officer made contact with the driver. A THC vape pen was then discovered behind the passenger seat after a probable cause search. A ticket for the drug offense was issued to the driver, who was the only person in the car.

Parole Violation

A PO violation suspect, according to information, was living in a motor home parked in a field in Heber City. Together with the Heber City Police Department, SEU arrived to the scene to speak with the suspect. A warrant was written and approved to enter the motorhome to take the suspect into custody after attempts to reach the subject, who was thought to be inside, failed. When the police arrived, the suspect emerged from the vehicle, was brought into custody without a hitch, and was then registered with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect was given a no bail ruling.

Saturday, June 17

Alcohol Offense

A traffic stop was initiated on Old Ranch Road for a speeding violation. After making contact with the occupants of the vehicle, deputies observed a case of beer in plain view. It was later discovered that all of the occupants of the vehicle were under the age of 21. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded an additional opened beer can that was located underneath the driver’s seat.  The driver of the vehicle was issued a citation for the alcohol offenses and for speeding.

Sunday, June 18

Theft

Deputies received a report of theft from the Sinclair gas station on Silver Creek Road. The gas station attendant reported that a juvenile male stole a case of beer and fled the scene in a dark colored sedan. Deputies searched the area in an effort to find the culprit, but they were unsuccessful. The suspect could not be recognized because there was very little information available about him. Due to a lack of suspect information, this case, which was documented for informational purposes, is now closed.

Monday, June 19

Drug Offenses

Deputies apprehended a vehicle for traveling 80-mph in a 65-mph zone on east I-80. Deputies smelled the odor of burnt marijuana upon contact with the driver of the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana paraphernalia, and orange pills that field tested positive for MDMA. The driver of the vehicle was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail on several different charges.

Tuesday, June 20

Drug Offense

Deputies stopped a vehicle traveling on Beehive Drive, and it was discovered that the registered owner of the vehicle had an active no-bail warrant for arrest for burglary charges. Contact was made with the owner, and consent to search the vehicle was gained. The owner of the vehicle admitted to having drugs in her purse, and was subsequently arrested and taken into the Summit County Jail and was booked on  possession of schedule I, and II narcotics.

Thursday, June 22

Driving Under the Influence

Deputies responded to a reported vehicle accident on the Ute Boulevard roundabout. The vehicle was not located on the scene of the accident and was later located at the Chevron in Kimball Junction. Deputies initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and found the sole occupant of the vehicle to be impaired. Sobriety testing was conducted which the driver of the vehicle performed poorly on. A breath test was also conducted which came back at a level well above the legal limit at 0.35. The driver was then transported to the Park City Medical Center where she was cleared and then transported to the Summit County Jail on several charges.

Friday, June 23

Drug Offenses

A vehicle was stopped in Snyderville after a records check showed a cancelled registration of the vehicle. Upon contact with the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, drug paraphernalia was observed in plain view. A search of the vehicle revealed user amounts of heroin, methamphetamines, marijuana and paraphernalia. The driver of the vehicle was found to have multiple active warrants and was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Summit County Jail.

Saturday, June 24

Driving Under the Influence

Deputies were dispatched up Weber Canyon Road near Smith and Morehouse in report of an intoxicated male who had threatened to kill the complainant and his family over a campsite. The complainant claimed that as they were traveling, the suspect got into his car and followed them as they tried to drive out of the canyon with their belongings packed. According to reports, the culprit attempted to push the complainant’s family and his children off the road. The suspect was pulled over for a traffic violation on Weber Canyon Road, and he was later charged with DUI, Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct, Open Container, and Refusing a Chemical Test.

Theft

Deputies responded to a theft report at the McDonald’s on Landmark Drive. When they arrived, the complainant claimed someone went into the McDonald’s kitchen and started eating fries. After being informed that he was not permitted to be back in the building, the individual took a carton of fries and left. The man rushed into his car and sped off. The complainant was able to capture images of the person as he drove away, as well as images of the vehicle. The car returns to a person with a Louisiana address and with a Louisiana license plate.
