Park City ranked most expensive for Utah’s household bills
PARK CITY, Utah— Living in Utah may have you wondering how your household bills stack up against your neighbors’.
According to data provided by doxo, the average household in Utah pays $2,097 per month in common bills. These bills include mortgage, rent, auto loans, utilities, auto insurance, cable, internet, phone, health insurance, mobile phone, alarm, security, and life insurance.
Utah residents get a good deal despite this amount compared to other states; they rank 19th out of 50, just slightly above Minnesota in 20th with an average of $2,079, and behind Texas in 18th place at $2,110 annually. Still, it is interesting to note that Utah’s monthly household expenses are 2.5% higher than the national average of $2,046.
But what about the differences between towns and cities? doxo’s analysis reveals that there are indeed variations in expenses across the state. While annual spending on household bills in Utah reaches a staggering $22 billion, it’s surprising to learn that residents spend only 33% of their income on them. In contrast, Mississippians, who live in the second most affordable state for bills, spend a hefty 41% of their income on them.
With an average monthly household bill of $3,106, residents of Park City face the highest charges in all of Utah. However, when considering household income, Lehi’s monthly price tag of $2,518 accounts for 30% of the income allocation, whereas Park City’s bills are lower at 29% for the same purpose.
