ALTA, Utah — A multi-day interlodge has been lifted at Alta Ski Area and Snowbird, and both resorts are now open.
At Alta, the Wildcat, Collins, and Sunnyside lifts are now in operation.
“Thank you, to all of the Alta Ski Area employees, lodge employees, local residents and guests who grabbed a shovel and helped dig out from this latest storm cycle,” said a statement from Alta Ski Area. “We hope you enjoy a bluebird day at the Alta Country Club—you definitely earned it.”
At Snowbird, the Aerial Tram (regulator only), Chickadee, Wilbere, Mid-Gad, Gadzoom and Little Cloud are now open for skiing and riding. All other Snowbird lifts are on hold today for snow removal and avalanche mitigation.
According to the Utah Avalanche Center, the Uintas currently have a high avalanche danger rating, and the danger in the Salt Lake area is considerable.
SR 190 is currently open, however, the Utah Department of Transportation, Alta, and Snowbird are currently working to clear avalanche debris from Highway 210. The road remains closed with no estimated opening time.
