Early morning fire on North Star View Drive in Highland Estates

UPDATE 1:21 p.m.: Crews left the scene at 11:25 a.m.

UPDATE 10:20 a.m.: Park City Fire Department crews are still on scene at the fire, located at 6321 North Star View Drive.

According to Fire Chief Bob Zanetti, the fire broke out in a garage at the residence, which presented multiple challenges to the PCFD.

“We had a few challenges just because it was pretty cold out this morning and there was no other access into the garage besides the main door so we needed to breach the garage door itself,” Zanetti said. “And then there was a lot of the garage was full of like storage stuff. No automobiles in there. And so we had a lot of that stuff on fire.”

Crews were able to get the fire out quickly, and are now looking for extension in the attic area. No injuries were reported.

PARK CITY, Utah — At 6:30 Tuesday morning, neighbors of the Highland Estates area, located between Kimball Junction and the Home Depot area, noticed flames and smoke.

Within 10 minutes, multiple emergency vehicles began arriving with lights and sirens on.

15 minutes after that, the smoke color turned from darker to lighter as fire crews applied water.

Within a half-hour of the fire starting, it appeared extinguished.

UPDATE: Thicker smoke plumes continued to flare up over the next half hour while fire crews remained on site working on the fire with truck ladders extended.

The smoke settled in the Snyderville Basin over the Swaner Preserve.
