Man arrested after doing doughnuts on I-80 during snowstorm

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — While many hunkered down during the snowstorm on February 22, others saw it as an opportunity to engage in reckless driving.

Robert Glenn Branson, 53, was arrested early Wednesday morning by Salt Lake City police for going the wrong way and doing doughnut stunts on Interstate 80 near 700 East in Salt Lake City.

According to charging documents, Branson made strange statements at the time of his arrest and admitted to drinking and smoking marijuana. Officers later found marijuana inside Branson’s vehicle.

Branson faces charges of driving under the influence, reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance, interference with an arresting officer, and refusing a chemical test.
