Wasatch County SAR rescues family searching for Christmas tree

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — Wasatch County Search and Rescue shared information yesterday on a rescue that took place last Friday.

According to a Facebook post from Wasatch County SAR, the team was able to assist a family that had gotten stuck in their car around 4:20 p.m. on November 25 in the Bjorkman Hollow, Strawberry area.

“A family called 911 to request help in getting out of the mountains with 6 family members. They became stuck in the snow while searching for a Christmas tree on a very remote backcountry road. Lucky for them their cell phone still worked.” Said a statement from Wasatch County SAR.

The total duration of the rescue was 2.5 hours, but eventually SAR teams were able to transport the family out of the backcountry. The family’s car, a Honda Pilot, had to be left behind.
