Monday, December 26
Assault
Two people reportedly got into a physical argument on the Saddleback Lift at Park City Mountain Resort, according to a complaint. A 52-year-old Florida man allegedly elbowed a 39-year-old Florida man directly in the face while on the lift. The 39-year-old claimed he repeatedly punched the other man in the face until he stopped acting aggressively. In addition to denying saying he wanted to fight the other man, the 52-year-old denied elbowing the other man in the face. The County Attorney’s Office will be notified of this matter due to the conflicting statements made by the two parties.
Recovered Vehicle/Possession of methamphetamine
A man claimed that his car had been taken earlier in Salt Lake, and that he was following it via his phone, which was in the car, and that it was at the Smith’s parking lot near Kimball Junction. Deputies responded and found the vehicle. A 23-year-old West Valley woman was driving the vehicle. According to the woman, her boyfriend was in Smith’s. The boyfriend, an Ogden male aged 37, was found by deputies in Smith’s. Methamphetamine, oxycodone, drug paraphernalia, as well as several of the victim’s credit cards and identification documents, were discovered to be in the possession of the couple. Both were detained after being charged with several offenses.
Fraud
A man reported that he received an email stating that he had overpaid for security services. The man called the number on the email and provided his banking information via phone for what he believed to be a refund only to later realize that he had been defrauded of approximately $6,000. There are no suspects and no leads.
Vehicle Burglary/Weapons Offense
Deputies were dispatched to the Kamas area in response to a car burglary. The victim said that the suspect had stolen items from her car and had left her house, traveling along Browns Canyon Rd. The suspicious car was found and contacted. A 22-year-old Park City man was the driver. The smell of marijuana was immediately discernible after coming into contact with the car. A handgun, a burnt marijuana cigarette, a backpack full of cigarette rolling papers, a scale, and trace amounts of marijuana were discovered during the search. The suspect’s car did not include any of the items that were listed as having been reported stolen from the complainant’s vehicle. A search of the man’s records revealed that his license was suspended and that he had an outstanding warrant from the Draper Justice Courts.
He was taken into custody on his warrant, driving with a suspended license and possession of a dangerous weapon while also possessing a controlled substance. He was transported to Summit County Jail without incident.
