18-year-old Oregon woman killed in tubing accident at Deer Valley

PARK CITY, Utah — An 18-year-old Oregon woman died in a tubing accident on Saturday, December 10, after she collided with a chairlift tower at Deer Valley Resort.

The accident took place around 9 p.m. after the resort had closed for the day. The woman and her friends were tubing when the woman crashed into a chair lift tower at Deer Valley’s Silver Strike Express.

The woman’s friends called 911 and transported her to the base of the chairlift, where the Park City Fire Department responded and transported her to an offsite location.

The woman was transferred via Air Med to the University of Utah trauma center, where she reportedly succumbed to her injuries.

“Our hearts and thoughts are with the guest’s family and friends during this extremely difficult time,” said a statement from Deer Valley Resort. “Thank you to our local emergency responders for their medical care and assistance.”

The identity of the woman has not been disclosed at this time.
