The Shop yoga studio reopens after 2 years

PARK CITY, Utah — After two years, The Shop yoga studio at 1167 Woodside Avenue is reopening its doors on Monday, November 14. Community Yoga with Tiffany at 5:30 p.m. will kick off the studio’s new chapter and is open for all levels of yogis. The Community Yoga class will be the final donation-based class offered at The Shop, and no pre-registration is required.

“We’re staying true to our original mission and values, which has always been [to be] a place for community, a place to gather, a sanctuary, a place for healing, a place for self-growth and learning,” said The Shop Manager Amber Lind. “We are no longer operating as a donation based-studio because we just can’t sustain.”

Following the yoga class will be a potluck gathering. The Shop encourages participants to bring a mat, a favorite snack or drink, and a friend.

Pre-COVID The Shop was a sought-after venue for private events and parties.

The Shop opened in 1997 and has offered donation-based classes ever since. In 2020, when the pandemic struck, The Shop closed its doors. Now, in the age of Venmo and credit cards, it needed to pivot as cash donations would be few and far between. Starting on November 15, the Shop will offer drop-in rates and punch passes that can be purchased through its brand-new website when booking a class. Patrons will find that classes and teachers remain pretty much the same as when it shut down; those teachers have been preparing and planning for this reopening for a year.

“The place has been sitting empty for so long that we want to start getting people through the doors and enjoying the space for what it is…There’s really no other space like it,” Lind said.

The Shop’s unique space of over 6,000 square feet is also used for private events and parties and is taking inquiries.
