Woman in labor trapped on I-80 rescued by North Summit Fire

PARK CITY, Utah — North Summit Fire and Summit County EMS responded to a call on October 16 requesting help for a woman in labor who was stuck in traffic caused by local construction on I-80 westbound. The woman and her partner were concerned that they would not make it to the hospital in time.

Minutes later, Fire and EMS were called to respond to a vehicle crash in the same immediate area. The driver was reportedly suffering from an unknown medical issue that impaired their driving, causing the crash.

Two Air med helicopters and a neo-natal OB crisis team were dispatched to the scenes, and both patients were flown to local hospitals in time.

North Summit Fire thanked all of their partners that helped respond to both emergencies, as well as the patient drivers and other bystanders who assisted them in helping the people in need.
