PC School Board candidate Mandy Pomeroy commits to parent advocacy, involvement and being liaison for community

This article is part of an ongoing series at TownLift covering all candidates for the upcoming 2022 local election.

PARK CITY, Utah — Mandy Pomeroy is running for Park City School Board District 4 seat. She has lived in Park City with her family since 2013 and describes herself by saying: “I am a parent. I am an Educator. I am an Advocate. I am a former elementary school teacher and teacher of the year. I am a mother of three girls enrolled in the Park City School District.”

According to Pomeroy, she and her family moved to Park City for the quality of life and sense of community that so many love about the City. She has been the chair of the Park City Education Foundation’s Red Apple Gala for five years, making her an expert in fundraising and community outreach. She also recently finished serving three years as PTO President for Jeremy Ranch Elementary.

Pomeroy decided to run for the school board in March of 2022 because she “knew she had the knowledge to positively affect our schools and community.” After deciding to run, Pomeroy was chosen to finish the term of the previous board member, who resigned in April, giving her first-hand experience as a board member.

“Parents have expressed to me that they find a lack of transparency between the school board and parents. As a parent of three children in the school district, I want to work with parents to ensure their voices are heard, by using mine for them. As a member of the school board, I want to continue working with fellow board members to help parents feel more involved. We are elected officials. We work for our parents and students. Parents should feel that we are working for and with them in the best interests of their children, regardless of their circumstances and backgrounds in life.”

When asked about her decision to run for the board, Pomeroy says she “chose to run for school board as a parent, not a politician.”

“If I’m elected to continue my seat on the school board, I make this promise to everyone in our community: I will bring commitment and dedication to the job, every single day so all of our children can achieve their potential in a happy, safe environment. I am experienced, passionate and the only candidate with demonstrated commitment to the children, teachers, and administrators in the Park City school district.”
