Para Bobsled National Team announced
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – USA Bobsled/Skeleton (USABS) is proud to announce the four athletes named to the 2022-2023 USA Para Bobsled National Team.
The athletes that were selected to compete on the Para Sport World Cup tour are, in alphabetical order: Bob Balk (Moravia, N.Y.), Guillermo Castillo (Orlando, Fla.), Steven Jacobo (Gardnerville, Nev.) and Austin Parker (Hanford, Calif.).
Athletes earned their spot on the team at USA National Para Bobsled Championships last March.
Through decades-old partnerships between Park City’s para sports specialists, The National Ability Center, and the Utah Olympic Park, these athletes train and compete in Park City.
“We are so proud of how these athletes continue to improve and can’t wait to see what they do this season. Balk, Castillo and Jacobo have World Cup experience under their belts and have each found their way onto the podium, and newcomer Parker is eager to join the ranks,” said USABS Para Sport Development Committee Chair Kim Seevers in a statement. “It’s a fantastic schedule, and we’ve got some really talented athletes that are eager to get back on the ice and represent Team USA.”
The Para Sport World Cup will kick off on home ice in Lake Placid, N.Y., with races from November 19-20. The tour will pick up in Innsbruck, Austria, from January 26-27 before the 20223 Para Sport World Championships, which will be hosted in St. Moritz, Switzerland, in conjunction with the World Championships from February 2-3. The Para Sport World Cup tour will conclude in Lillehammer, Norway, from February 11-12.
