Seven PCHS Seniors are 2023 National Merit Semi-Finalists
PARK CITY, Utah — Seven Park City High School (PCHS) seniors learned on Friday that they had been recognized as National Merit Semi-finalists for 2023. The recipients include Zachery T. Aldous, Oliver M. Diaz Moore, Dominik L. Jamrich, Alex J. Kuck, Case H. Schemmer, and William J Shuflit.
Over 16,000 semi-finalists, roughly one percent of U.S. high school seniors, were named for the 68th annual National Merit Program. To be considered semi-finalists, students completed the 2021 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Each semi-finalist will compete for some 7,250 National Merit Scholarships worth $2,500 and earn the Merit Scholar title.
Semi-finalists must fulfill multiple requirements, such as demonstrating leadership abilities, academic success on their record, and others, to become finalists who will then be considered for a scholarship. Approximately 95% of the semi-finalists are estimated to become finalists, with scholarships going to about half of that number.
Finalists will be announced beginning in April 2023 and concluding in July 2023.
