Poll shows Lee in tight race with McMullin

SALT LAKE CITY — A Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics poll published Wednesday pits prospective GOP U.S. Senate candidates against independent Evan McMullin, who has gained the Utah Democratic Party’s endorsement.

810 registered Utah voters were asked: If the general election were held today and the following individuals were the candidates for U.S. Senate, who would you vote for?

Mike Lee vs. Evan McMullin

41% — Lee

37% — McMullin

19% — Don’t Know

4% — Other

Becky Edwards vs. McMullin

29% — Edwards

28% — McMullin

37% — Don’t know

6% — Other

Ally Isom vs. McMullin

34% — McMullin

23% — Isom

36% — Don’t know

7% — Other

Primary ballots were mailed out to Utahns this week. The number of Republican candidates will be winnowed down to one following this month’s vote.
