String of car thefts reported throughout Summit County

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — On Monday, Summit County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a series of vehicle burglaries throughout Summit County.

Police reports from Monday:

SCSO: Deputies received a call for a vehicle burglary at the Hyatt Place. The complainant stated he and his wife walked out to their vehicle and saw the rear driver side window broken. The only items taken were prescription sunglasses and a jacket. The complainant was provided with a case number. There is no suspect information.

SCSO: Deputies received another call for a vehicle burglary at the Hyatt Place. The complainant stated the rear passenger window of his gray Toyota Tundra was broken. The complainant stated there was nothing taken from his vehicle. He was provided with a case number.

SCSO: A deputy responded near W Ute Blvd for a vehicle burglary. Upon arrival, two passenger side windows were observed to be broken. A black Ghurka bag containing a laptop computer and some running shoes was taken from the vehicle. The value of the items taken and damage to the windows changed this vehicle theft to Felony level. The owner stated that their car alarm went off at 6:22 a.m., and when they went outside the windows were broken. There is no known surveillance in the immediate area. Another vehicle parked in the next stall was also damaged, and a theft committed.

SCSO: A deputy responded to another vehicle burglary near W Ute Blvd. Upon arrival the driver’s side window was observed to be broken. A small orange bag was taken. There was nothing in the bag of value. There is no known surveillance in the immediate area.

SCSO: The complainant reported that her vehicle was broken into near N Forestdale Dr. sometime between the hours of 5:12 a.m. and 6:15 a.m. A purse containing identity documents and credit cards was stolen from the vehicle and the vehicle’s rear passenger side window was shattered. Currently there is no suspect information and no video surveillance available.
