Extra snow?! Thank the whale

SALT LAKE CITY — 8 – 16 inches of snow are expected to hit the Wasatch and western Uinta Mountains starting on Friday afternoon.

Snow levels will fall to around 6000 – 6500 feet, according to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City.

Winter Weather Advisories are in effect starting Friday at 6 am and lasting until Saturday at noon:

“You may bristle at the fact that I continue to blubber on about this, but it’s no fluke that the snow whale continues to work its magic,” the Wasatch Snow Forecast said this week, referring to the newly installed public art installation in Salt Lake City’s 9th and 9th neighborhood. “A good spring snow storm continues to look more likely heading into this weekend.”

On Twitter, Salt Lake City Government wrote, “We’ve seen an overwhaleming amount of jokes about people praying to the whale, but we’re starting to believe…especially if it helps with our drought.”
