Snowbird unveils new aerial tram cabins
SNOWBIRD, Utah — “After 50 years of a job well done, it’s finally time for the original Tram cabins to become literal “snowbirds” and enjoy some much-deserved retirement,” Snowbird said in a statement published Tuesday.
The original 1971 cabins have traveled 794,994 miles, the equivalent of traveling to the moon and back over one and a half times.
Two new cabins will arrive this spring to transport guests to and from Hidden Peak, and “into the future of the mountain.”
The new tram cabins feature floor-to-ceiling windows as well as a summer seasonal experience featuring glass floor panels and a rooftop balcony, which is the first of its kind in the United States.
The rooftop balcony has room for up to 15 people.
Snowbird said the new cabins will be installed in late June this summer.
The last day for the original trams will be April 3.
