Skier triggers 600 ft wide avalanche in Mineral Fork
BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON — The Utah Avalanche Center (UAC) reported an avalanche on Monday in Big Cottonwood Canyon in Mineral Fork on Barrieto.
A skier triggered the slab, and it propagated 600 feet wide, 2-4 feet deep, and ran 1600 vertical feet to the bottom, crossing the creek and traveling up the other side of the drainage.
“Luckily, nobody was caught in this beast of an avalanche,” UAC said.
