Park City High School students protest anti-LGBTQ legislation
PARK CITY, Utah — Hundreds of Park City High School students walked out of school in protest of anti-LGBTQ legislation on Thursday along with faculty, staff, and administrators. Coming-out stories and messages of love and acceptance dominated the scene.
Last week, the Utah Legislature voted to override Gov Spencer Cox’s veto of legislation banning transgender youth athletes from playing on girls teams.
On Monday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law that forbids instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third grade.
One source told TownLift that some students at the protest were being “disrespectful,” by holding up signs about mangos that said, “mango rights were human rights.”
