Park City Mountain parking changes for President’s Day Weekend

From Park City Mountain:

Park City Mountain and Park City Municipal are continuing to work together on collaborative solutions to community challenges. Heading into President’s Day Weekend, PCMR and the City are implementing new measures to improve resort-related traffic and congestion, improve the transit-first experience, and improve parking capacity and pedestrian flow at the Mountain Village Base. New traffic patterns were tested last weekend and resulted in successful improvements to transit flow through the Mountain Village base area.

Further changes will be implemented this weekend based on feedback from local merchants and tenants, community members, guests and employees.

Starting on Thursday, Feb. 17, operational adjustments will be in effect for 1-2 hours in the morning during peak travel periods, from the time when the parking lots reach capacity until the traffic flow in the area has cleared, and again for 1-2 hours in the evening to mitigate impacts during egress at the end of the day. There will be updated signs and staff onsite to assist with traffic flow. We encourage guests to utilize public transit, carpool options, and follow @PCMtnAlert on Twitter for up-to-date information.

Traffic flow changes at the Park City Mountain Base will include:

·       Further improvements to pedestrian walkways to more efficiently manage pedestrian safety and flow around the resort.

·       Updates to traffic routes that will go into effect once parking lots are full and cease when traffic volume eases:

o   Shadow Ridge Road will become a double westbound lane with two one-way lanes – one for personal vehicles and one lane for buses.

o   The transit drop-off will shift to Upper Lowell and guest drop-off will shift to the existing transit center.

o   There will be no left turn from Empire Ave onto Shadow Ridge Road.

o   Ingress traffic to paid parking in the underground garage will be queued and routed along Lower Lowell.

o   Incoming traffic heading to the guest drop-off or to High School Parking will be re-routed through the First Time lot and then back down Lowell Ave. for a more efficient exit.

·       Additional resort staffing and PC Police staffing will be onsite to facilitate parking and traffic flow.

PCMR and the City extend our appreciation to all of the teams who will be on the ground executing these new plans. We also thank the community for its support of these team members and for considering public transport and carpooling options. We welcome additional constructive feedback in order to consider all perspectives and to continue refining and improving traffic and congestion, and comments can be sent to parkcityparking@vailresorts.com.
