Calls for service: Police and sheriff logs

Calls for service to the Park City Police Department (PCPD) and the Summit County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) for the week of February 7 — February 13.

Monday (2/7):

  • SCSO: Wasatch County SO arrested a 38-year-old Heber City man on a Summit County Felony 3 aggravated assault warrant. A deputy took custody of the man at the Mayflower exit and he was booked into the Summit County Jail without incident.
  • SCSO: A male reported that his black 2016 Jeep Cherokee was stolen from a parking lot behind the Hearth & Hill restaurant sometime while he was at work. The vehicle was listed on NCIC and ATL was aired for the vehicle, but it was not located.

Tuesday (2/8):

  • PCPD: Two separate theft cases were reported at the 711 on Sidewinder throughout the day. During the second incident, juvenile suspects were detained and released once parents were notified.

Wednesday (2/9):

  • PCPD: Officers maintained a presence on Main Street during the bar rush and closing due to a large crowd at one of the local bars. While performing the check, officers were advised of an assault. A male suspected of striking another male (victim) over the head with a beer bottle was located. The victim was treated then released and the suspect was arrested and booked on various charges.
  • SCSO: Deputies were dispatched to the Sunglass Hut on a burglary call where two suspects forcefully entered the building and stole multiple sunglasses valued at over $10,000. The suspect had gloves and full-face coverings on as they used a crowbar to force the door open. No suspect information or description was available.

Thursday (2/10):

  • PCPD: A male was arrested for intoxication at a local hotel after a responsible party could not be located to care for the male.

Friday (2/11):

  • SCSO: Two males tricked a Walmart employee by pretending to overpay for cash cards with another cash card and requesting change. No transactions were made, and Walmart reported a total loss equating to more than $5,400. An additional $1,610 of which was in cash, was given to the suspects from the register. During the time of the incident, a female left the store with a shopping cart without paying and entered a light-colored large SUV. Walmart employees believed both thefts were related.

Saturday (2/12):

  • SCSO: Two people were apprehended by Walmart security after it was discovered they had swapped stickers on items they had purchased. It was determined that they had failed to pay $147.32 for their purchased items. Post Miranda, the two admitted to switching the stickers on the items, were cited and released.
  • SCSO: Deputies responded to a location in Silver Creek in reference to a domestic assault. During the investigation, it was determined that the suspect, a 54-year-old Park City man, had punched and slapped the victim numerous times during an argument. The suspect also choked the victim and told her that he was going to kill her. The victim was provided resources for her safety. The male was arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail.

Sunday (2/13):

  • SCSO:  Deputies observed a hot air balloon flying very low over the Summit County Jail, this is restricted airspace and an ongoing issue. The pilot and other ballooning members were contacted and advised future incidents would result in contact with the FAA for enforcement of federal law. Parties were identified and documented.
