14-year-old dies after skiing collision at Alta

ALTA, Utah — Officials confirmed that a 14-year-old died after a skiing collision in the Sugarloaf area of Alta on Sunday.

Ski patrollers and the Alta Marshal’s Office were dispatched around 10 am on Sunday after the incident, in which the teen sustained life-threatening injuries. Medics found him unconscious at the scene, where they began to perform life-saving measures. He was later flown to Primary Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The exact cause of death has not been released.

The accident is currently under investigation by the Alta Marshal’s Office.

“We extend our sincerest condolences to those affected by this tragic event and our thanks to those that responded,” the office said in a statement.
