PARK CITY, Utah — Choosing the right skis can make or break a season on the slopes. Jans’ Alpine Ski Test Program takes the guesswork out of buying by letting skiers test multiple models in real conditions before committing to a purchase.

For $95 per day, skiers can try different skis across varying terrain and snow conditions. The program credits up to three test days toward the purchase of new, full-priced skis with receipts, making it easy to find the perfect match without the pressure of an immediate decision.

Personalized recommendations from ski experts

The process begins with Jans experts guiding customers through questions about ability level, strengths, preferred terrain and turning style. Using this profile, staff curate a tailored selection of skis to test, eliminating hours of online research and catalog browsing.

Every ski in the test fleet has undergone extensive on-snow evaluation by the Jans team. Models are tested, debated and compared to identify their ideal skier profile, ensuring customers receive expert-backed recommendations.

Professional tuning for optimal performance

All test skis are professionally tuned and waxed before each use, allowing skiers to experience each model at peak performance. This attention to detail ensures that every run provides an accurate assessment of how the ski truly handles.

The 2025/26 test fleet spans four categories: carving skis, all-mountain skis, all-mountain wide skis and powder skis. Leading brands in the lineup include Atomic, Stockli, Volkl, Head, Kästle, DPS, K2, Fischer and Armada.

Planning your test day

Due to demand and limited quantities, specific skis and sizes are not guaranteed daily. Jans encourages customers to contact their preferred test location in advance to check availability.

The alpine ski test program is available at two locations: Jans on Park Avenue and Jans at Deer Valley Resort, Snow Park Lodge. A full list of demo skis is available online.
