Jazz players comment on Izzy Tichenor
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Amid reports of widespread racial harassment in Northern Utah’s Davis School District, ten-year-old Izzy Tichenor lost her life by suicide. The black student was on the autism spectrum and had been the target of bullying and of cyberbullying.
Utah Jazz players Donovan Mitchell and Joe Ingles, who has a son who is on the autism spectrum, are letting their views be known about Tichenor.
It shouldn’t take a girl dying for this to be brought to the worlds attention! Izzy was 10… and multiple people in “administration” were told about this problem and did nothing! 💔

Joe Ingles said in a press conference after last night’s game that he had the chance to speak with Izzy’s mom, and remarked that hearing their story from the perspective of her family was truly heartbreaking.
“It’s disgusting that that had to end like this for Izzy and her family,” Ingles said. “Because at the moment, the teacher of that class is still at school, the kids that were bullying are still going to school, and Izzy’s family are the only people that are really living a different life to what everyone else is right now.”
A donation of $50,000 was made by the Utah Jazz Organization made to Izzy’s GoFundMe and before the Jazz game on Thursday against the Indana Pacers, a moment of silence was observed in honor of Izzy.
Four Jazz players were ejected last night in the 111 – 100 first home loss of the season.
